Forum of Resources on Elder Education

FREE (Forum of Resources on Elder Education) of Mercer County is organized with the mission to educate the aging community, their children and caregivers through their transition through life. Presentations will be held throughout the county on a regular basis for the purposes of education. 

Wednesday, September 19th, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, Brian Hogenkamp, from Hogenkamp Funeral Homes, will give a presentation at the Fort Recovery Public Library on Funeral Planning 101. He will give advice on what you should or should not prepare for prearranged funerals. This free program is open to the public and does not require pre-registration. Used Book Sale

The Fort Recovery Library will host a Used Book Sale, Monday, October 15 - Saturday, October 20. Books, audiobooks, and DVDs will be available for purchase. Items are buy one, get one free for members of the Friends of the Library. 

Training for Non-Profit Organizations

Minding the Business While Changing the World: Reporting and Fiduciary Responsibilities - 
     The Friends of the Library is hosting an evening of learning for any local non-profit organization on Tuesday, October 30th at 6:00 PM at the Library. This training will include a review of the basic requirements all charitable organizations have, and provide easy-to-follow tips for board members who try to do their jobs responsibly in order to protect the organization and the beneficiaries of the group's efforts.
    

 

Medicare 101

The Mercer County Council on Aging will have a representative at the Library on Tuesday, October 23, from 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM to work individually with patrons to help determine the best Medicare Enrollment and Part D Comparisons. These sessions are designed to help educate the public on health care insurance options for seniors. Christmas Open House & Scholastic Book Fair

Come To Our Book FairVisit the Fort Recovery Public Library during the Annual Community Christmas Open House Sunday, November 11th from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Story Time will be offered in the afternoon in the library and is hosted by the Fort Pioneers 4-H program. The Friends of the Library is sponsoring a Scholastic Book Fair for families to purchase new books during the Open House and the sale will continue through the week during regular business hours. Proceeds from the Book Fair will go toward purchasing new books and materials for the library.

Shop the Scholastic Book Fair OnlineThe Friends of the Library is sponsoring a Scholastic Book Fair for families to purchase new books during the Community Christmas Open House on Sunday, November 11 from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The Book Fair will also be available at the Library from November 12 - November 17 during normal business hours. Books can also be purchased online until November 20. Proceeds from the Book Fair will go toward purchasing new books and materials for the library. Start your Christmas shopping by buying your loved ones something to read!
